UE5 Shrine Environment
About the Environment
The UE5 Shrine Environment is a mood-driven scene centered around a weathered stone shrine and a mysterious idol. The goal was to build a believable, atmospheric space using efficient environment art techniques—balancing modular assets, trim sheets, and set dressing to guide the viewer’s eye toward the focal point.
My Role
I worked solely as the Environment / Lighting Artist. I handled blockout, asset creation, material setup, composition, and lighting. I authored modular stone pieces and props in Blender, created tiling/trim materials, and assembled the scene in Unreal Engine 5 with careful attention to composition, value separation, and readability around the shrine.
What I Learned
I refined my workflow for modular environment art—using trim sheets, smart UVs, and reusable kits to iterate quickly. I practiced scene composition and lighting for mood, dialing in contrast and accents so the shrine reads as the clear focal point. I also improved material authoring and asset optimization, keeping a clean, game-ready budget while preserving detail.
